The disadvantage of having horses: they are a nuisance when photographing star trails. My friend Natalie Barby, took a walk with me to the pasture tonight, it was early enough and we carefully placed the camera to shoot the north star for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, being the on-call hospice nurse, I got called out about 20 minutes later. The horses were discovered, all three of them, standing around the tripod inspecting it. I knew from what little light we had that they likely have bumped it or walked in front of it. As you can see in this image, carefully view the shadows to the right of the tree. I am unsure who the guilty horse was but they all need to be sent to boot camp!
